Moveable aerodynamics could be the future, says FIA

FIA President Max Mosley has suggested that embracing the use of moveable aerodynamic devices could be the best route to increasing overtaking in Formula One.

For the first time this season, drivers are to be able to make minimal front wing adjustments from the cockpit. However, Mosley believes that taking the concept much further may be one way to improve the racing spectacle...

FIA seeking move towards mechanical KERS

From 2009 onwards, Formula One teams can choose to make use of Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS), which harness waste energy generated by the car under braking. As a result, over the past few months several have been hard at work developing the technology for their '09 challengers.

In a letter to the Formula One Team's Association, however, FIA president Max Mosley has revealed that he believes mechanical flywheel systems to be preferable to the electrical battery systems currently being devised by several teams.

Mosley pushes teams for further cost cuts

FIA President Max Mosley has written to the Formula One teams outlining further measures that he feels are necessary to keep the cost of competing in the sport viable. It follows the package of changes already agreed by the FIA and the teams last December.

From 2010, Mosley wants to see engines limited to 17,000 rpm with testing restricted to 15,000 kilometres per year, including the Friday practice sessions at Grands Prix...

Kubica establishes kart team over winter break

After finishing fourth in last season's championship, BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica would have been forgiven for enjoying a relaxing break ahead of his 2009 campaign. But instead of enjoying a well-deserved holiday, Kubica has used the offseason to put his expertise to good use and founded his own karting team.

"I've always enjoyed driving karts,” said the 24 year-old driver. “It was a great fun to compete in karting - lots of competition and not so much politics. And I wished to do something active in the world of kart racing, the discipline which allowed me to stand out and take the path leading to F1, and which I still love.”
